Children's Irish program
The Windham Textile and History Museum, 411 Main St., Willimantic, sponsors an Irish children's program Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Learn about the geography, customs, and music of the country, hear the story of St. Patrick, and explore the meaning of the shamrock. Experience what it was like for the Irish immigrants when they arrived in America and then in Willimantic, and learn about the famous potato famine that brought them here. Tree peonies
The Lebanon Historical Society Museum, 856 Trumbull Hwy., Lebanon, hosts a lecture and slide show about tree peonies and their care Saturday at 1 p.m. Presented by Kasha Furman from Cricket Hill Farms. The Columbia Historical Society sponsors a program "Ancient Life Ways of the Mohegans" on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Yeomans Hall, Rte 87 Columbia, CT. Presented by the Mohegan Tribal Historian and Tribal Medicine Woman Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel. A fascinating program about the Tribe's early beliefs, customs, social structure and daily life prior to colonial domination.
