Children's Irish program

The Windham Textile and History Museum, 411 Main St., Willimantic, sponsors an Irish children's program Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Learn about the geography, customs, and music of the country, hear the story of St. Patrick, and explore the meaning of the shamrock. Experience what it was like for the Irish immigrants when they arrived in America and then in Willimantic, and learn about the famous potato famine that brought them here. The Salvation Army Community Center, Pleasant St., Willimantic, holds its Salvation Cafe coffeehouse Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. Features music by The Core.

Variety show

The Horace W. Porter 6th grade class sponsors a variety show Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Columbia Town Hall. Benefits Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary in Ashford. Admission: $10. Tickets at Saxton B. Little Free Library and Landmark Natural Foods.

Tree peonies

The Lebanon Historical Society Museum, 856 Trumbull Hwy., Lebanon, hosts a lecture and slide show about tree peonies and their care Saturday at 1 p.m. Presented by Kasha Furman from Cricket Hill Farms.
